The Zebra KDU keyboard is a stand-alone peripheral device that allows you to interact with Zebra printers without the need for a PC.
With the help of ZKDU you will be able to print templates (made up of pre-stored labels) on any Zebra printer that supports the EPL and or ZPL programming languages. Depending on the format of the template, the operator will be able to enter information using the integrated form. The information entered can be: dates, series, the quantity to be reprinted, the number of labels to be printed from a series.
ZKDU has 62 keys and an LCD display with two lines and 20 characters. ZKDU connects to printers through the serial interface (RS232). Thus, the keyboard is powered and communication with the printer is also carried out. The ZKDU is equipped with a serial port for attaching a scanner, a scale or other peripheral devices.
ZKDU is strictly a terminal and has no capacity to store data or configure the keyboard or any connected printer. ZKDU is used for:
- listing the templates stored in the printer's memory;
- listing the types of templates existing in the printer;
- entering various information;
- label printing;
- switching between EPL and ZPL programming languages, so you can print EPL templates on ZPL printers and vice versa.
ZKDU automatically executes:
- detection of the serial port type of the Zebra printer it is connected to (DTE or DCE): the need for data cable adapters is eliminated;
- testing and configuring communications to associate them with the printer's programming language (EPL or ZPL).
