Canon is a multinational company, founded on August 10, 1937 , based in Tokyo, Japan . It produces and sells optical products, cameras and video cameras, printers and scanners.
Canon is a world leader in terms of innovations and image rendering solutions, both in the business and consumer segments. Between 1997 and 2006, the company was listed among the top companies with the most patents in the United States. Until 2011, Canon obtained 2,813 patents in the United States , ranking 3rd, after IBM and Samsung Electronics. Canon's inventions include: personal copiers, IVSB cameras, 10-key electronic calculators and SLR automatic exposure cameras.
In 2011, Canon invested 3.946 million dollars in research and development. At the core of the Canon company is Kyosei's philosophy: "Living and working together for the common good".
In the print area, the laser printers produced by Canon represented an industry standard. The first Apple LaserWriter laser printer models and equivalent products made by HP used the Canon LBP-CX engine.
The Business Solutions Unit offers a rich portfolio of equipment both for small and medium-sized companies, as well as for large corporations and for governments. Currently, this Industrial Products Business Unit is expanding its horizon even more, offering equipment for a variety of markets, from medical to optical, transmission and multinational IT companies.
